LEDs with their hi energy efficiency and low heat output come as an obvious light source for that application. On top of providing a cool and economical solution for backlighting, their tiny size allows to place them in the frame and to make EdgeLit products almost as thin as unpowered poster cases. The possibility to change colors dynamically or to choose any static color brings the best out of the displayed image.
